Why Palestine? Why Knitting?
Although there was a humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip prior to October 7th, it has been vastly intensified by the conflict since. Handmade, knitted or crocheted goods can bring at least some warmth and comfort to a population facing unimaginable horrors and instability. The money raised from the sales in our shop will be donated to get necessary food, water, and medical aid to refugees in Gaza.
Statistics on the Gaza Strip:
Since October 7th 2023, UNICEF estimates that "at least 17,000 children are estimated to be unaccompanied or separated from their parents in the Gaza Strip" 1
According to Al Jazeera, over 10,000 Palestinian children have been killed, or one child every 15 minutes, or "about one out of every 100 children in the Gaza Strip" 2
The United Nations estimates nearly 1.9 million Palestinian civilians have been displaced because of Israel's military operations 3
